I Love Motorways.

Coming towards the end of our 30 years in North Lancashire, we decided to visit Chester,never been there. Set satnav for hour and forty minute journey, no problems. Great day in Chester, left at 5pm, put home into satnav. Somehow, must have touched avoid motorways icon. Now bear in mind I do not know this area at all. Presumed satnav had found a quicker way home and stupidly followed the directions.Realised the seriousness of the situation when we arrived at the Mersey tunnel. Anyway the journey was one mile less than than the outbound but took over three hours. Thrilled to get on the M6 at Haydock. Never thought I would say I love motorways.

LOL, know what you mean, sam. Happened to me once, leaving Padstow the Garmin ( heap of crap by the way ) decided to take me for a trip around Bodmin there was road closures everywhere due to major road works going on. I also thought that the sat nav must know a quicker way to the M5.

I moved to a different area at the beginning of this year. Went into town and then I asked satnav to take me home. Note to self. Grass up the middle of a road does not make it a dual carriageway. I drove for 5 miles at about 10 miles per hour praying I didnt meet anyone. Never again have I driven that particular drove!!!!

Glad I'm not the only one. I just knew thinks were going fubar, but black dark, awful Wirral traffic, satnav instructions that run to thirty pages. Just thought, we will get home somehow.

The only thing that kept me going Sam was the thought that "no other fool is going to be stupid enough to drive down this god awful road".

At least we haven't driven into a river or canal. Or apparently the favourite in America, rail tracks.

I deliberately ignored my Audi Pratnav on a trip around Paris - I knew she was wrong and so forced a reroute which (at first sight) looked to be exactly what I wanted to actually do.

Mrs Merkel then took her revenge for my impudence, by a sly second reroute, which I didn't notice until she deposited me onto the Peripherique in the afternoon rush-hour in my RHD car ...

No, not at all. As I was about half way I was thinking "I need a 4x4". But am moving next year to a place with sensible bloody roads.

I followed my sat nav down from N Devon to Exeter in the summer. I couldn't believe where it was taking me - every B road and country lane it could think of. I had to turn it off in the end. My friend was sent on the same wild goose chase when she came up from Exeter on the same journey. My nav was a Tom Tom and her's was inbuilt in her Merc 4x4. They must use the same satellite. There doesn't seem to be anyone to complain to so that the problem can be rectified

I do update it. I know the way to Exeter and only needed the sat nav for the last couple of miles but it took me to every back of beyond village it could think of.

I used to love the M5 Spath, until the last couple of years trying to get back to N.Lancs from Ross-on-Wye, on a Friday in July. 2015, nearly 7 hours, 2016, 8 hours 15 minutes.

Anyway, decided to check satnav today, and it isn't set to avoid motorways. Really don't have a clue why it went all cattywumpus.
