Are “Shouting/speakers” Galleries The Answer?
20 Answers
To rising crime, anger in our communities and general dismay at what’s happening around us?
Let’s take the speakers corner model as this idea came from the speakers corner thread and what a user said there and I quote
“ Every town should have a place where anyone can go and nobody listens so that they can say whatever they want and vent their frustrations. They feel better afterwards.”
So in essence a “shouting gallery”
Wow what a fantastic idea that would be and from a psychological perspective there’s no reason why it wouldn’t work.
If these places became the norm we could reteach kids that violence is never the answer and to go to these places to discuss or just vent.
This would be a great place for people with stress at work or in the home to just be able to talk to strangers or just scream and shout with them being “vented” could go back to work/home in a better frame of mind.
I think that many use the internet for this but it’s to my knowledge that if enraged online and you vent it online but remain online the anger still stays dormant until ignited again but to go out, vent and come back leaves you in a fresh, positive and optimistic frame of mind.
What are your thought on having a “shouting/speaking gallery nearby in all communities?
