World Cup Betting
Just been looking at the various 'enticements' from the bookies as regards betting on the World Cup. One which looks worthwhile and possibly very rewarding is from Willy Hill; Place £10 on the team you think may win the tournament and every time they win a match in normal time, you receive a free £5 bet. Similarly, place £10 on who you think may be top scorer and you get a free £5 bet each time he scores - even in extra time. So, to recoup your initial stake, your team only need to win 2 games and your top scorer need only score 2 goals. Anything after that is a bonus. While the prices for the fancied sides begin @ 5/1 (Germany and Brazil), the price for top scorer starts at 10s (Messi and Neymar). Definitely be having a good study this afternoon. Not long, now - wall-to-wall football :-)

However, i don't think England will get far enough for him to get the Golden Boot (sincerely hope i'm wrong, of course).What i tend to do, Ark, is to sort out which teams could be in the last 4. Then go for one of their top scorers. It's paid off in the past - just hope it does so again.
You didn't leave the thread alone, Ark. You tipped up Harry Kane. Well, actually, you tipped up some geezer named 'Cane'. :-/
And, as for Portugal winning without winning, as it were, you could most likely get a very good price on any side doing that in the World Cup.
In that Euro 2016, France were strongly fancied and their top striker Antoine Griezmann got the GB with 6 goals.

There is a false-hood in your statement:- ‘So, to recoup your initial stake, your team only need to win 2 games and your top scorer need only score 2 goals.’
You don’t recoup your initial stake, you get to place 2 bets totalling the same value (which is not the same thing as recouping your initial stake).
Of course these bookie inducements are aimed at getting new punters (mugs) to bet with them.
If you only ever bet on such inducements, where the odds favour the punter – you might come out on top over all, but you will only be placing bets 2 or 3 times a year.

Fair enough, Hymie. But a £5 free bet is better than nothing and this is not aimed at NEW clients. It is open to all. Inducements for new clients vary from firm to firm. Willy Hill's is bet £10, get £30 in free bets (3 x £10 free bets) which, of course, come with T&Cs attached. No firm gives money away for free.
So, just struck my first WC bet; as per usual, i would expect Brazil to be a major force in this year's tournament and they should certainly have no problems getting out of a group containing Switzerland, Serbia and Costa Rica. However, i have shunned the 10/1 for Neymar, brilliant player that he undoubtedly is, and have instead placed a £10 straight win (you can do e.w.) on Gabriel Jesus @ 14/1. He scored 8 goals in his 13 appearances during the qualifying campaign and i am hoping that the unselfish Neymar turns provider. I will, of course be having more bets on the comp.

More;
Uruguay x Russia, Spain x Portugal, France x Denmark, Argentina x Croatia, Brazil x Serbia, Germany x Mexico & Belgium x England.
7 straight forecasts @ 1,182/1 - Sky
Couple of changes to above as a saver;
Uruguay x Russia, Spain x Portugal, France x Denmark, Argentina x Croatia, Brazil x Switzerland, Germany x Mexico, Belgium/England Dual forecast, Columbia/Poland Dual forecast.
That pays approx 1,524/1 - Sky
Also done a win single on Poland x Senegal @ 8/1 - just a feeling that Senegal may surprise a few.

I posted this first match acca before setting off for work this morning and, for some weird reason, it disappeared. So here it is again - don't want to be accused of 'after timing' if it's a winner :-/
Russia, Spain, Croatia, Argentina, Serbia, Germany, Sweden, Columbia, BTTS & Poland.
The acca runs from 14th - 19th June and pays just over 292/1

Ronaldo's stunning free kick put paid to my first round acca :-( - actually thought it would be in play a little longer. Plenty more fish in the sea and i am hopeful of some sort of return from the following;
Griezmann (France) score/win @ 1/1
Aguero (Argentina) score/win @ 11/8
Eriksen (Denmark) score/win @ 7/2 (Win single)
Treble and trixie which, if all 3 do the business, returns over £380.
