Getting Checked For Breast Cancer
10 Answers
My 66yr old mum was diagnosed with breast cancer last November and has just completed her treatment .She was told early on that it was hormone related but more recently has been told that she also has the faulty gene that plays a factor alongside lifestyle choices.
There has been no other family members with breast cancer up to now as far as we know.
My question as her 46yr old daughter is what steps if any would my GP take. would I be checked with an early scan or would I be checked for this faulty gene ?...
I will be making a doctors appointment but jut curious as to what may be the course of action if anything?...

I asked her about her test results and she hasn’t anything on paper ,she doesn’t know what gene is faulty and she wasn’t told by one of the doctors , It was a nurse . I think my mum had asked about the level of treatment she was having and was told by nurse that she had faulty gene and overproduction of oestrogen so they had to give her lumpectomy , chemo and then radiotherapy . Nurse told her that she should inform me but sounds odd the consultant hadn’t told her this or given her test results .
