Reporting Questions/Answers
Can I suggest another reason for reporting a Question or Answer? How about, "Hatred against persons on racial or religious grounds?".

Thank you for your comments. In regards to the editorial policy please refer to our Site Rules and Terms of Use.
In forums such as these it is important that even unsavory arguments are allowed to remain - as long as they do not infringe upon our Site Rules and Terms of Use. It is up to other ABers to offer their counter arguments. As mentioned before, most extreme views do not hold up against reasonable and well thought out arguments.
The AB does not condone racist/sexist views and such blanket statements that have nothing to do with the topic being discussed will be removed.
Unfortunately, because the subjects of race/religion/nationality are all over the news at the moment, trying to keep people's views on the right side of PC is almost impossible.
If you have any concern about any posts, Report them.

ABE in the Terms of Use it says
"9. You agree that any posting or contribution you make to such forums will not be defamatory, discriminatory, racist, obscene, offensive, threatening or in breach of any copyright or in any way unlawful or objectionable."
Why then, is Racist not an option for reporting a post?
My point is, why should I have to argue against a clearly racist posting when it should merely be reported and removed if you agree it is racist?
Hi corby,
In regards to the Reporting of racist, or what may be considered racist comments, any of the current criteria - abusive/profane would suffice.
The reporting function is chiefly used to bring posts to the AB Editor's attention.
Clearly racist comments which have nothing to do with the discussion are removed.
The problem, from an Editor's perspective is that whenever a contentous view is aired, the rest of the thread is made up of arguments against that contentous view.
So any irrelevant comment which is meant to incite racial hatred is edited or removed, but if it is just an unsavory or unpopular or unPC view and others are able to discount it through their own counter arguments, well, that is the ideal scenario because we get to experience a full discussion of all views, not just the PC ones.
I hope this clears up some of the confusion, but as mentioned before, please Report any post you feel should be reviewed and/or removed.
