Background, the Cornish council suggested that my mother try out various paper/disposal knickers to see what she is comfortable with - a weekly disposal service in a yellow and black bag set up.
I was tackling my paper sorting and filing this afternoon, ready to do both my and her taxes and get them in the system. A cup of tea after the sorting and I had just gone upstairs to do the filing and the phone goes.
'It's the council, we've never received the order?'
'Well, we received the samples but not your order number or contact, as promised.'
Long and short of it, we went through the best style for her, the Tena pants - pull on and large - come in packs of 12. Next thing is she is going to send over 90 days x 3 a day rounded up....these are a quid a pop retail! Question one, do I rename the house to incorporate Mount Tena as we store away 276 pairs of disposable knicks?
And then, thinking about it, there must be a collective noun for this quantity of Tenas, along the lines of a 'Jangle of coathangers' or 'a Parliament of owls' - and this is my question, what can you come up with?
Never mind, if the mater pops off tomorrow, my sister and I will be, out there in the lane, offering Tenas (L) at about 60p a pop......
why choux, it's 'sad' that the NHS have to go to such extremes....it's just light-hearted fun at their response or over-response to the need to supply - actually I am grateful as I have been shelling out c. £75 quid a month.......the Tenas work and the mater has become used to them, so that's good.
And choux, my mother has Alzheimer's stage 6 - we are trying to keep her at home as long as possible - a sense of humour is essential, believe me. As Mamya hinted at, we aren't laughing at her, it's more at the conditions and circumstances around her and the 'disease' (I call it more of a condition). Laughing at her would be unacceptable.
Wait for the tome coming, 'My Mother has Alzheimer's - Am I going Mad?'
