Good Soap Actors

We all have our quibbles - very often expressed on AB - about duff storylines, implausible plots and terrible acting in soaps. But does anyone have any suggestions for someone in a soap that they think is a really GOOD actor?

Gillian Wright (Eastenders), absolutely wasted in nearly everything she has ever been in, s technically good, and such a depthy actress, I would love to see her do something really serious.

I asked because there was someone I saw recently that I thought was consistently good, but I can't for the life of me remember who it was. Maybe someone will suggest them.....

Good actors don't last long on soaps!

Apart from Corrie, I don't watch the soaps - but I have to say the East Enders actress (Cat?) was brilliant in the Elsie Tanner special. And I saw Martine McScutcheon(?) on stage in London in My Fair Lady. I could have been watching Audrey Hepburn herself.

There are several actors from soaps who have left and gone on to do good work - Sarah Lancashire for example. I was meaning actors still in the soap

Most of the child actors in Emmedale and Corrie are brilliant, taking into consideration their very young age.
