Anyone Up For A Difficult Puzzle?

As part of a series of clues leading up to a ‘murder mystery’ type event I’m attending I’ve received the following puzzle. Clearly all relate to Britain but I’m stumped on the answer.
The question is what links the following:
Death of its “Ruler of the Waves”
Birth of its garter lover
Coronation of its sleeping king
Death of its first Queen

Has William Shakespeare written about the events?
Have the monarchs involved been included in Shakespeare plays?

Not sure about Shakespeare. I think the references are to King Canute, Edward III, Henry VI and Mary I. Only Henry VI features in his plays.

Canute nor Mary Tudor'm feature in his works. The connection can't be dates as they are too far apart. I was thinking perhaps places but I'm in the dark.

Quite a few websites connect King Lear to King Canute.

Only need to find a reference to Mary I

The beach where Canute proved to his knights that he couldn't control the sea is at Southbourne in Hampshire. A good pub there too.

I presume that the term Sleeping King refers to Henry VI who was crowned as a ten month old baby. Similarly, Mary I is the first undisputed queen of England although there were two whose reigns are disputed, Matilda and Jane.
