i think its a great idea, how much it would cost is another question, but if it protects the danes then why not, of course it would never happen here, to many bleeding hearts...

I would not however be in favour of anything like this if it simply meant housing non criminal illegal immigrants alongside those who have committed crimes, that would be completely unacceptable. Denmark is by and large a very free and forward thinking country and I would be surprised if this gains much support amongst grass roots Danes.
What's not to like about the scheme unless you are one who disrepects and abuses the hospitality of a country who wishes no other than to offer refuge and safety. At least Denmark have the initiative to show that these foreign criminals and bogus asylum seekers are given not given the false sense of entitlement that they expect because of their alien status

You spend a lot of time in the States. Check out how many escaped from Alcatraz in it's long history as a Pen. Then checkout Devil's Island in French Guiana. Islands are the best place to isolate these prisoners.

It's okay Mamy, personal insults are the only refuge for those without argument, and it's good to see VE sticking to normal form. I'd worry if he ever had a valid point.
What facts are at my disposal (as a luvvi or otherwise)?
Oooh well let's start with one huge glaring one shall we? In the last 250 years worldwide there have been only been 14 prison islands. Out of those, for logistical reasons and failures, only 2 are still open (Rikers Island complex, US and Ognenny Ostrov, Russia). Governments do not close successful facilities. It's as simple as that.
With regard to the two existing Island prisons Ognenny Ostrov has a 50% TB rate, routine mental health issues, a 23 hours per day lockdown and the guards have permission to shoot dead would be escapees. Do you that very likely to go down well in Denmark? Or even be legal?
Rikers Island houses only prisoners on remand, with no bail money or short term prisoners and is scheduled for closure before 2027 (it is actually being moved forward to an estimated 2022), so please tell me VE if this is such a good idea, why would the Danish jail be one of only two remaining jails ( if you can count it's Russian counterpart as a jail which is far more like a concentration camp and only houses those with a whole life tariff who will never be released)?
I'd love to hear an actual opinion of yours (based on facts obviously) that doesn't involve snide remarks about my age, my profession or rather randomly my race.
