Presumably there are only two contenders for her hand? In that case, each rides the other's horse to win!

This works better when it's a two-horse race Grisy - don't think it can work with more than two, can it? Also the prize has to be the owner of the winning horse, does it not? Forgive me if I am wrong but have seen this in another guise and cannot see how the answer can be worked out as you have given it.

Sorry Gnisy, I have just read your comment attached to the next posting where you say that it's not much fun when the first answer is the correct one!

However, many of us out here have be puzzlers for more years than we would care to admit - and the LAST HORSE WINS puzzle is one of the classics!

Ya, switch horses.
Thousand apologies people but I didn't hear it as a two horse race, although now I see that it would make more sense that way. Err.. maybe the point is just to start the race and not to ensure winning it?
Didn't know it was a classic. I just heard it a year ago.
My apologies for spelling your answerbank name wrong, Gnisy - need new glasses I think!
