Excuse me for a bit of ''faffing about''Steff but I am in a state of shock!
An unidentifiable packet arrived in the mail yesterday am which turned out to be from The Daily Telegraph with a congratulatory letter, a check for £50 and a nice boxed fountain pen !!! All for winning a recent Herculis crossword. Stick with it, ones number does come up. Before I embark on this week's links and crosswords I did want to hugely thank all those who have given me help over the years with tricky clues etc. Special thanks to Crofter and Gen 2 who helped in the early days when I first landed on these shores from a city called Rockford in the State of Illinois! Then too that polymath Lie in King, Twix and Roslyn and more recently DannyK and especially to the indefatigable Steff who works so hard for all of us from Down under. I only wish my dear wife was still alive to share it all - she did have a wee grumble now and again about me spending too much time with crosswords on weekends. So thank you to you all and I must now get this check to the bank (if I can find one!) - John
