Not asking for answers. Just puzzled over question no.5 in this quiz. As the title says answers are Homophones, which are words that sound the same but are spelled different i.e. blew/blue. Clue for no 5 is Coffin carrier in cowshed. Both words have 4 letters. Now I've got two words that look right but they do not sound the same! Anyone else had trouble with this one?
Well I've got the same as you cashier, but there's no way that Bier, which rhymes with year, is the same as Byre, that rhymes with tyre. Doesn't matter where you come from, that's just how they're pronounced in Standard English. Also no. 13 has the wrong number of letters for both answers. Despite this post I am enjoying this quiz!
I was thinking the same as you eebygum but am going with what I've got which is the same as you. Realised the answers are in alphabetical order but have one answer beginning with c which is slightly out of order. Anyone found the same?
Setter has agreed that No.13 should be 6.6. for the answers.
Accents certainly play a part in homophones to my mind!
But I think this quiz is very entertaining. I just go with my interpretation nowadays.
