I am in South Africa now. The country is, to put it mildly, in a mess. There are constant 'outages' - power cuts, because the state power company along with most other government controlled businesses are riddled with corruption. Billions of rands has been lost through bribes and looting.

Contractors building three new power plants are being investigated for the theft of R139 billion alone. Loss of another R31 billion is also under investigation.

Home generator sales are the new growth industry here; together with security and firearms sales.

At least it's warm.
