Why did AA Milne name his bear Winnie The Pooh? Pooh seems a bizarre choice

What does pooh mean? Why would you say that to a swan?

I read somewhere that he considered dozens of names for the Peruvian immigrant but they were all pooh poohed.

I always assumed it had a Masonic connotation as in the ‘grand Pooh bah of the Lodge’ changed to Pooh Bear.
I think Tigger was the most likely to be a Mason in that group.
