Are Our Children Being Brain Washed Over Certain Issues?

I ask this because on one of the TV news yesterday, it showed groups of very young children some dressed up in uniform, standing by the roadside outside their school, equipped with carbon emission monitors, checking on passing traffic.

What ever happened to the teaching of three Rs?

As a primary school child we did many road surveys, seeing which vehicle was most seen on the roads. When you see a car you do a little mark, same with bike, push bike, van, lorry etc..

Seems tech has just evolved.

Practical part of a lesson, it involves skills such as maths, statistics etc and science too.

Emissions near schools are one thing I absolutely don't mind our children being brainwashed about. Air quality especially aroubd schools, where idiotic parents don't turn their engines off at drop off/pick up is one of my bugbears. One of my children has a permanent wheeze, and I certainly want her breathing the cleanest air possible. Lessons like this are so important (not just because as mamya says they teach about real life, engineering, mathematics, physics, geography and so on) but also because those young people will grow up to be older people and be the ones who can contribute to the way our world is organised

What an excellent lesson, AOG. Not one child will be bored, fidgety or overlooked in a noisy classroom...
Every pupil will be interested and keen to explore then use the monitors. Then there will be the eagerness to engage in the follow up classroom lesson using the three Rs......now what could be better?

What about all the emissions my generation had to endure in the 40's, 50's and 60's? Smokers everywhere; every house using coal fires; winter smogs; nuclear testing (far away, I know). Now we're being told we were the lucky generation! Good innit?
