Do any of you folk know, or have heard good or bad things resulting in being 'on the show' ? The reason I am asking is simple, I recently dog sat for a good friend while she was away and I was dismayed at the neglect her property has suffered. Through no fault of her own, she works hard on a no contract job, then she bakes cakes to sell as well as researching family trees for a fee to help her with basic living costs. I have known her for 7 years and I have watched her continual struggle. She pays her mortgage, council tax and utilities, ( as we all do ) and then has little left to survive on. Needless to say , her home is quite literally falling apart around her. Her house is a Victorian semi, single skimmed back wall. 3 bedrooms, 1 accessed through another. Apart from the renovations, her doors and windows don't look as if they will last another winter!. I have never nominated anyone for a show like this, I don't even know if she would fit any criteria. I am pondering ...and maybe courting fantasy a tad, that it might be a way to help her get the home she deserves. Anybody know anyone ???
Mamya, this lady is disabled herself, partially sighted, with other health issues. Her family are scattered, and as a result of her house she doesn't get them to stay . She is a lovely lady, life hasn't been easy for her, yet on she plods !
They can come round to my house if they like! I've got plumbing problems which mean that I have to nip outside every couple of days to turn on the external stopcock to fill up loads of bottles of water to last me for a couple of days. (If I turn the water on for too long it rushes through my kitchen ceiling). I've got windows where the glass is replaced by a rubble sack taped in place and/or, due to the frame having rotted away, the bottom few centimetres have got bubble wrap stuffed in them to keep the draught out. Etc, etc, etc!
