Un (peacekeepers) + V1(rocket) inside long(desperate)
UN + V1 (rocket) in LONG (desperate for)
25a, unloving yes, un vi is rocket in long.
V1 was not a rocket. It didn't have a rocket motor. That would be the V2. Silly error.
Dannyk13...check your facts. V1 was a pulsejet-powered cruise missile. Not ballistic, not rocket-powered. Check your internet facts. Fake news.
There are many sources describing the V1 etc as 'Rockets' and whilst not wholly true in the strictest sense this isn't an examination but a crossword.

Take it up with the compiler.
Stoobs, I prefer to believe what is in the link.Final post on this subject, have a nice day.
Mamyalynne and dannyk13, check this:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/V-1_flying_bomb
Now believe that.
Your answers are wrong. No accurate sources call it a rocket. Because it isn't. Its motor is a pulse jet and it's a winged guided missile. Not in any loose sense is rocket defined or accepted. You and the compiler just don't understand much at all. By your lax definition, a stone is a missile is a rocket. The correct answer is UNLOV2NG. Sloppy beyond belief. That is my final position. Take it up with dictionaries. Intellectual masturbation when one is wrong does not cut the mustard.
Why not take it up with the crossword setter Stoobs? They're the one that is in error, to you anyway, because that is how the clue parses in the setter's world.
Interesting first day on AnswerBank?
I will. I just wonder why anyone would defend sloppy setting and think they're clever? Who is the setter? TIA. I'm having a fab day. One of many. It must burn, though, to be wrong and not able to admit it, at least to you, anyway. Or was the answer UNLOVKAMIKAZEING? Had the setter used "missile" it would have been both clever and accurate, as opposed to the opposite. Anyway, all of you are better- informed now. Thank you for listening.
