Will Stack Hi-Fi Systems Ever Be Popular Again?
11 Answers
Years ago I gave away my pretty extensive vinyl record collection and VHS collection to a charity shop. In recent times those formats appear to have become quite fashionable again. Some of them serious collectors items. I see that people are struggling to sell stack hi-fi systems on ebay for as little as £50. Mine comprises good name brands, and I'm loathe to give it away...partly as I fear they'll make a comeback one day and I'll feel robbed. It's cluttering my home though. What would you do?

I have a large vinyl collection with decent hi-fi separates too...Rega Planar deck, Denon tuner-amp etc but am still able to play digital stuff and stream (eg Spotify, internet radio etc) through the system...and it sounds many times better through the system with large decent speakers than through what passes for a "sound system" these days.
So, I'm never getting rid!

Were stacking systems ever popular ? Convenient to site maybe.
I think the vinyl upturn is likely mainly an enthusiast market. I see albums that have already make wealth beyond imaginings priced laughably high. I don't see the advantage over CD, but accept the quality is better than the commoner download formats.
