Cabinet minister defends his 40 mile trip to deliver medicine to his parents house, as a necessary journey.
Isn’t that what I along with 750,000 others signed up to do.

I think there were questions about him travelling to his family home in Hertfordshire where his family is and from which he now says he is working.
On the subject of his travel between Herefordshire and London, Jenrick told the Daily Mail: “My house in Herefordshire is the place I, my wife and my young children consider to be our family home and my family were there before any restrictions on travel were announced.
“I have been working in London on ministerial duties, putting in place the system to shield the group most vulnerable to coronavirus and organising the response at a local level. Once I was able to work from home it was right that I went home to do so and be with my wife and also help care for my three young children. By staying at home, we protect the NHS and help save lives.
“I will be staying at my family home until government advice changes or if I am needed in person in Westminster before the parliamentary session resumes after the Easter recess"

Yes - he went from London to Herefordshire where he has a second home before also dropping in on his parents. Beggars belief.

H should have avoided dropping off stuff at his parents although that was allowed technically.
The trip home to Herefordshire was okay if he was going to be working from there and it really is his family main home (he says family were already there before lockdown), but I'm not convinced as I'd have thought he'd still be attending cabinet meetings etc in London and so perhaps should stay there

Not sure what the fuss is about, there have always been two sets of rules in every crisis.
He may yet be brought down by that other certainty, the baying mob on t'internet. Thankfully the over-the-gate apology on the news, flanked by loyal family won't happen in the current emegency. He'll just slink away in a huff moaning about essential this and I'm special that.

Kinnock made a special trip. Jenrick was on his way home; parliament having shut down for the Easter recess and cabinet meetings being held digitally meant his presence in London was no longer necessary. He made a detour via his parents' home to drop off some essential medication and food. I don't see a problem.
A proper case of "Do as I say, not as I do" in my humble opinion. Surely, being of a certain age and needing medication, his parents will normally have their medicines delivered. Mine are still being delivered despite the virus. So what has changed for him to have to travel the 40 miles to take medication to his parents. The whole thing sounds like a pack of lies.
