Good morning, a real challenge for me as I do not have access to Brewer, but I'm counting on my good knowledge of French to shed some light on the unclueds. Some answers to the following will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
ACROSS:
24 Several parishes with services starting mid-week (3) : ?E?
38 Some hammer Ephesians regularly (4) CLAW?
42 Tattered ends I’d twisted – proven (14, three words)
??????N?T?ST?D ( Looks like an anagram, but no help from Chambers)
DOWN:
23 Trembled, when in small fragments (8): SPI???E?
26 Marmoset from the west is a small monkey (7): ?I??AT?

24 S(ervices) (w)ee(k)
42 Definitely an anagram - 'twisted' is the indicator, proven is the definition.
26 Your A is wrong
23 Your P is wrong.
24 A term for 'several parishes'.
42 Tried and tested
38 Pein, hammer - alternate letters in Ephesians.

These answers should give you a good start!

Many thanks, all! While I'm making progress with the French, I'm stuck on one clue. An answer, please, and thanks in advance!
DOWN: 26 Marmoset from the west is a small monkey (7)
?I??ITE
Your E is wrong. The first word in the clue is the definition. The word ends in a monkey that has made frequent appearances in crosswords.

Sorry,Neveracrossword, the last letter is I not T.
Yes, definitely an I. I don't know what you mean about the T, you didn't show it as that!
Question Author
Sorry again, I inadvertently messed this up. It's
?I??ITI, but I simply cannot get it. Take me out of my
misery now, so that I can go back to researching
the French. Un grand merci, et à bientôt !

Thanks, ael.

Matakari, hope you manage to finish this off now.

PS Many solvers don't have access to Brewer's - but at least you have a good knowledge of French!
