Is there a reason why this should have a film connection? 'Blacken' would partly fit the bill...ie it means 'to soil'...and 'lack' means a 'shortage'. That would mean 'Ben' would have to be the word going around 'lack'. 'Ben' does not mean 'cross', however, other than in the film actor's name, 'Ben Cross'. I'm probably barking wildly up the wrong tree! If so...sorry!
Aw for goodness' sake! Obviously I did not see Biley's answer to a question further down the page. In fact, none of the answers above mine were there when I started to type my reply. Great minds think alike, perhaps?
Thank you everyone. Actually I am doing the search for my 77-year-old wife (I'm 81) who hates computers but loves The Answer Bank. I still have my uses even after being married for nearly 56 years!
