But only up to a certain point?
fiction-factory’s thread below about Queen got me thinking about this.
I like all their albums up to and including Night At The Opera, but none of them after that.
Only yesterday I put Kacey Musgraves first 2 albums on a memory stick for my DIL, and told her there is a third, but I deleted it because I don’t like it, no matter how hard I try.
When she releases another album, I wont be bothering with it.
Yes, I had lots of groups where I used to get all their albums and then suddenly stopped- e.g. Queen I bought them all then stopped after The Game I think; ELO likewise until stopping after Discovery; Blondie until Eat the Beat; Pink Floyd until Animals and 10cc until How Dare You. The only group I bought right to the end were Oasis. I'm not sure why I stopped in each case as I still liked them but the excitement with which I used to anticipate albums stopped for some reason
I love all Eagles albums up to The Long Run, which I know they struggled with, but there are only a couple of tracks on it I like.
There is nothing I like on the much anticipated Long Road Out Of Eden. I was very disappointed with it.
I do listen to albums several times before giving up on them, though.
So if you only liked Yes up to Fragile, Ryzen, there’s more you don’t like than do. Rather like me with Queen.
Funny how you can find some bands absolutely brilliant up to a point, and then find everything else absolute rubbish.
It’s not like its a slow going off or outgrowing something.
