Emmie, number of letters is not given by the setter.I think satprof was saying that there is a clue that has four letters.Have to wait and see if he comes back.

Unfortunately, using Bath doesn't work. You end up with non-existent words, so I'll try again with 'launder'.

Yes but as a suggested when suggesting it earlier the clue should of been wash rather than washing for launder to work??

Thanks & congratulations to Danny. Launder works out, quite easily as it has lots of useful letters. D is also a given, so finding the right grid position isn't hard.

As for whether 'beneath wash' would be preferable to 'beneath washing', it's certainly not unusual for Alphapuzzle setters to take liberties with parts of speech.
