Where Has My Mail Been ????

I've just had 2 letters delivered today, dated Nov 2020.
I know that the letters were sent, as they are statements from 2 different banks and when they didn't arrive, I had to order duplicate statements.
My question is - where the hell have these 2 letters been for the past 3 months??
Surely there's some kind of system where the mail comes in at one end and goes out at the other ..... but I just can't help envisaging a sack of mail dumped in a corner with my 2 letters in.
I doubt they got delivered to a wrong address, as they would have been redirected way before now ..... I just can't work out where my poor letters have been.
Luckily I'm on the ball, as one of the letters was informing me that my ISA was maturing in Nov 2020 and I needed to take action !!

My neighbour received a Christmas card yesterday posted from the USA on 10th December, correctly addressed. It has a big blue message stamped on the front: MIS-SENT TO UGANDA

When we lived in america, we had a letter from England arrive to us that had come via Haiti! I wish I had kept the envelope
