detached house band H @ £2496
flat band C @ £3589
Both same council.

Why the huge difference as both are 3beds?

i would check that with the local authority, doesn't seem right, are they on the same street, how do you know the council tax?
sorry is one of these your property? and the other someone you know..
Are you sure those figures are correct? They seem the wrong way round - band H would always be higher than Band C
Question Author
house is mine & flat is son's
You can look up what band any property is in here:

https://www.gov.uk/council-tax-bands
Question Author
those figures are as billed as am receiving hospitalised son's mail
i would check this out, and see if can't get this lowered for the son.
tambo are you based in England or Wales, as Scotland have different CT i believe -
Question Author
both props in Windsor, emmie
no wonder they seem very high. I would go through Brainiac link and check this out.
you need postcode for both properties to get the ball rolling.
exhorbitant council tax i must say.
Depends on the property values, some flats can be valued a lot higher than some detached properties.
true ^^ but this seems excessive
Tambo, have you got single person's discount?

A band H property should have a much higher council tax bill than a band C property

My CT is reduced for sole occupancy whereas son's flat is empty (trashed by tenant).
Windsor (unparished) council tax 21/22 is listed as Band H £2930.60; Band C £1302.49.
Old Windsor Band H £2999.31; Band C £1333.03

So something is very wrong with your son's council tax bill.
i would concur with Barry
How long has the flat been empty, tambo?
Question Author
am not paying son's as he is still in hospital. Council can jail him ;)
Band H is 3959.82 here in Plymouth, which seems obscene. Higher than Windsor??
