Forget For A Moment Brexit, Covid, Racism, Etc., And Have A Say On This One If You Feel So Inclined..
I’m not a Reddit user, but my e-mail provider sent me the following tale (US-based) – it’s a bit disjointed but I reproduce it as seen.

A husband was called out on Reddit for making his wife cry on a night that was supposed to be special. He went on Reddit for advice after the incident. He and his wife Sarah discovered recently they were expecting their first child recently. They are both working long hours, but one night Sarah surprised him with his favourite dinner. She also got all dressed up for the occasion. But trouble unfolded when Sarah felt like he didn’t put much effort in. He said, “She looked so beautiful I wanted to marry her all over again. However I was tired. I’d been working a 12-hour shift and just wanted to relax. It was quite awkward between us for the rest of the meal and when it was done she said “Remind me never to make an effort again”. Later as I was going to bed I heard her crying in the spare room. I went in to comfort her but she told me to go away and leave her alone”.

Reddit users thought the husband should have played things differently that night. I must say I agree, not very thoughtful on his part. I would love a wife like that, and I would have dressed up and joined her at dinner, full of praise and gratitude. (I’ve had experience of long shifts, often well over 12 hours, so I know what it’s like)
