The first of 3 'play offs' begins today with The Northern Trust tournament taking place at The Liberty National Golf Course in New Jersey. With a couple of absentees, the world's top 125 players will be taking part having earned their places in rounds throughout the season. I have given myself a bank of £30 to play with during the tournament and have used £20 of that with my pre-tournament bets. I may or may not dip into the remainder of the bank as the tournament progresses.
Jon Rahm, £5 win @ 10/1
Collin Morikawa, £2 each way @ 18/1
Daniel Berger, £1.50 each way @ 30/1
Hideki Matsuyama, £1.50 each way @ 33/1
Harris English, £1.50 each way @ 40/1
Jon Rahm or Collin Morikawa to win, £2 @ 7/1
Going into the final day and Jon Rahm shares the lead on -16 with Australia's Cameron Smith who shot a course record 60 yesterday to haul himself up the leaderboard. The pair are one stroke ahead of Erik van Rooyen.
Unfortunately my other selections have not really 'turned up'; Morikawa actually missed the cut, English and Matsuyama are on -6, with Berger on -5. Those 3 will have to almost emulate Smith's performance to figure in the top 8. Not impossible, but a big ask.
