……of a new post on a thread I subscribed to four years ago. The thread is utterly innocuous, as is the new post, and the poster, one I've never heard of, has according to their profile, been here for 14 years but contributed little in that time. Hmmmm…. something to ponder. Batter than counting sheep I suppose.
I've accidentally posted on threads that are several years old occasionally. It's usually because I've seen a 'Related Question' underneath a post that I've been looking at, decided to take a look at it and have then posted a reply on the thread, completely forgetting that it's not a current one.
I think old usernames are being recycled to try and bring traffic to the site. There are quite a few new faces. but when you look at their profile, they've been subscribed for years, but hardly ever posted.
I've stumbled on that one a few times bednobs.
Yesterday I found myself on a post from 2004 I think. A current newbie had posted there...it was a very strange post. I suspect the newbie didn't last.
Yes, it's a shame the 'regular members' aren't savvy enough to use a post in one of the categories that DON'T show up in 'Recently Answered', rather than use one in Technology/Internet which DOES appear there, every time one of them posts to it.
The old natter's post is not a new thing, they move the chat to a different post after a while, I think it's lovely, esp if they don't use the regular social media, chat in there to their hearts content
