I love all of the versions of Masterchef, however the are all ruined by that imbecile Gregg Wallace, his laugh, his annoying interuptions, his comments on the dishes, it all makes my skin crawl. - anyone else feel that same, or do people actually like him.
I wanted to watch that inside the factory series too, but i watched one episode and he was so patronising to one of the line workers in a trainer factory i wanted to punch him, so never watched it again.
I don't, however, like the professionals version of Masterchef. I much prefer to see the amateurs cook - and that includes the celebrities. Some of them surprise themselves!
I quite like him in the factory series.
He is so interested and excited, even if it is put on for the cameras.
However I cannot watch Masterchef. So much of the show is SO annoying - particularly the bored and depressed voice of the lady who reads out the menus.
Greg Wallace is a grocer -how he got the job of being a judge beats me. MasterChef the Professionals is dire. The skills test. It's hard to believe a chef with years of experience under their belt cannot make a creme pat and roll a Swiss roll. Who on earth would put hot crem pat onto a Swiss roll with whipped cream and expect it to work?
I rather love the skills test. They come in, quite sure of themselves, only to discover they are lacking in the basics. I suppose it depends on where and how they learned the skills they do have. Not all are formally trained.
My youngest son made a Swiss role in his cookery class when he was 15. Its only common sense that a hot pastry cream and a cold whipped cream will not work in a Swiss roll.
At least i am not the only one. Agreed that a professional should know how to make Creme Pat. - sometimes think that the pressure must get to them, but poor showing. I wonder if the restaurants that they work in, have any comments the they mess up so badly.
Mooria -and that one that served the scallop almost raw. Even in their 'speciality' round some of the food produced was sub-standard. What makes me laugh is they all say 'oh I can do better if I'm kept in'. Sorry but the time to really show what you can do is in the first round.
He loads too much on the fork, puts the fork in his mouth rather than just the food and talks while the food is on his mouth. And is either oblivious or uncaring of his actions.
He's been in the business for a very long time...as greengrocer, restaurateur, radio show host...Veg Talk...and was first host of Saturday Kitchen. He knows his stuff.
He's one of those many people who, although devoid of any discernible talent, seem to have lucked out and are never off our screens; that extra G in his name really annoys me!
Another recent addition to this list is the awful Alex Scott, who has now added a crappy daytime quiz show - The Tournament - to her ever-increasing appearances.
The BBC loves 'personalities' but that does mean a proportion of the audience, sometimes a large proportion, will not appreciate the 'personality' they are having foisted on them.
