2. ? Chicken (Chinese island) .. as in headless chicken. Chic for pizzazz.

1. ? Outan island (in Canada) .... Out + an for indefinite article.

Thanks for your suggestions, Hazlinny. Cape Verde is definitely right. I think No.2 is Ireland (Ir-elan-d). Still looking for any other ideas for No.1 - I don't think it is Outan because the other answers are all pretty well-known islands. Any other ideas out there?

1. Agree my two previous suggestions were a bit obscure - think my brain was in cryptic overdrive! This should be better for No. 1 - Crete.
To make something is to create it - create, take out the indefinite article "a" = Crete.
