Turn is SWIVEL. W/WEST is the card player. Remove W and replace it with N/NORTH. North and West are opponents at bridge.

Thank you to all. I was appalled at how straightforward all the answers were once I saw them. As a result it would be quite invidious to choose one of many as Best Answer. (They all were!)
Now finished but, although I know the answer to my last clue, I cannot parse the wordplay :- Moan in turn when card player goes for opponent (6) ?N?V?L. It has to be SNIVEL (= moan), but why?
