On this photo on the front page of the Express, https:/ /www.ex press.c o.uk/ The King appears to be wearing at least 10 medals, what are these for ?
My grandad fought in the Somme & had a leg amputated in WW1 & had two medals. My dad served for 5 years in the RAF mostly in North Africa during WW2 & he also was given just two, so Charles must have done some amazing service to get ten don't you think?
I seem to have missed out on all his exploits.

"The King wore the Royal Navy No 1 tailcoat with sword, the collar of the Order of the Garter, Order of the Thistle Sash, Order of Merit neck order, Garter Star and Thistle Star.
He also wore full-size medals including the Queen’s Service Order (New Zealand), Coronation Medal, Silver Jubilee Medal, Golden Jubilee Medal, Diamond Jubilee Medal, Platinum Jubilee Medal and a Naval Long Service Good Conduct (LSGC) (three x Additional Service Bars).
Other medals included Canadian Forces Decoration (three x Additional Service Bars), The New Zealand Commemorative Medal, and The New Zealand Armed Forces Award".

PS - OP - if you grandad served in both world wars I would have thought he'd have at least 4 or 5 medals.
yup I thought 2 stars and 3 gongs. - certainly the North Africa star, and what did he do after that? Europe - had its own star
and the gongs are defence medal, kings medal and a third
