Thank you for all your suggestions. I fail to see how The Portrait of Dorian Gray is the answer to the door in the frame. I do spend a lot of time trying to get the answers and there are three more in this 20 question quiz. Let me know if I am overdoing it. Or just don't answer if you think I am misusing the Answerbank. stargazer, that sounds good to me. a portrait (is in a picture frame) "in a Door," or "door in a" sounds like Dorian, and black and white, mixed, makes the colour grey.
Yes, there are several on the Caboodle site. I am a cryptic crossword afficionado so these picture book title puzzles appeal to me. I still think the Dorian Gray clue is a bit messy. I know the book but could not see a link.
