The August/September before lockdown I bought from Morrison's a reduced price Belgian chocolate Yule log with fresh cream and decorated with real gold (?) flakes. It was huge so I cut it up and put some of it in the freezer.
I have found the last piece lurking under bags on chopped swede.
Should my wife eat it or bin it?

I would, yeah.
I'd try it and if it tasted okay, yes I'd eat it.
Defrost it and taste it. It won't be off but may have lost a bit of texture
I'd eat it. It sounds delicious.
Bin it.
Will taste bland, even if it is not infected.

It’s defrosting, my wife is looking forward to it. She said if it does make her bad she’ll be recovered in time for Christmas. She enjoyed it when I bought it.
I thought cream couldn't be frozen?
Question Author
Who told you that? Plenty of fresh cream cakes in the supermarket freezers, gateau, ice cream with clotted cream …
Was it fresh or frozen when bought?
"Even if not infected"...with what?
I definitely bin it. Frozen fresh cream several years old? No thanks.
I’d try some and decide then whether or not to eat it all.
Sharon, cream freezes if it’s been whipped, you cant freeze just a carton of cream. In the past I’ve bought a bag of frozen cream from the supermarket, comes in small portions.
yeah should be OK
the crema is probably half veg

I cannot think of any bug that thrives in milk/dairy at -20'C.
My memory is not as good as it was, but my recollection is that Staph aureus can "survive at -20C.

It doesn't need to "thrive."
^so, the Staph aureus would have been in the product when bought.
Quite ^^^^
Yes I'd eat it. Can't stand food waste.

My wife ate it, enjoyed it and she's alive! I had a little bit and it tasted fine
rule of thumb.. if it looks ok ..if it smells ok..then it is more than likely ok ! I do the sniff test for loads of stuff.. and I'm still kicking !

We're much the same, murray.
