Can anyone help me to identify a Jack Reacher novel which is set in the past in which he helps his brother to escape from an U.S. army base where he has been falsely accused of a crime he did nor commit.

Thought i'd read all of the Reacher novels, Vimto, but i don't recall that scenario. In fact, i can only recall Jack and Joe appearing together in any novel when they reunited after their mother's death. They did sort of meet up again in Killing Floor, but Joe had been murdered.
You absolutely sure it was a Reacher novel.

The Enemy?

That's the one in which Reacher's mother dies, not unexpectedly, and the two brothers are briefly reunited. But i don't recall Jack having to spring his brother Joe from a US Army base.
The Enemy begins with a Maj General popping his clogs in a rather seedy motel, presumably while in the company of a prostitute.
I've got a vague recollection of one of the short stories when the two were still boys living on a base with their father. Joe is accused of something and Jack sorts it out. Anybody?
It could be "Second Son" - short story.
bhg; i'm guessing the short story you refer to is 'Second Son'. I did say i thought i'd read all the Reacher books but i don't recall having read any of the novellas.

These are all the novels and novellas in which Joe Reacher either appears or is mentioned.

Second Son - Joe is accused of stealing exam questions or something like that, I can't recall how but somehow linked to his father which would have ruined his career
I'm pretty sure I saw a TV listing for a film with this plotline last night but sadly can't remember the title.

It looks like I may have made an error in my characters as so many of you can't recall the plot in any of the Reacher books. My apologies if so.
I do read a lot but I am confined to barracks of late with a bad dose of covid and wanted something to read. The Library being out of bounds at present. Thank you all for your assistance. I'll be very happy with "Avenger", an excellent Freddy Forsyth novel.
