Bbc Quiz : Week 10
35 Answers
Quiz time again!
We’ve got the usual three quizzes from Aunty Beeb this week, PLUS some BONUS QUIZZES that I found hiding away on her website.
I started off with a ‘middling’ FOUR out of seven in the main quiz this week:
https:/ /www.bb c.co.uk /news/w orld-64 901559
‘Middling’ too, for me, in the junior quiz, with THREE out of five:
https:/ /www.bb c.co.uk /newsro und/513 18780
It was a much better week for me though in the Timed Teaser, with NINE out of ten:
https:/ /www.bb c.co.uk /news/w orld-us -canada -648585 50
So that’s a better-than-usual aggregate score of 16 for me but I reckon that quite a few of you will still beat me, as there seemed to be a lot of easy questions this week!
The BONUS QUIZZES are taken from BBC Bitesize, which is primarily targeted at teenagers doing GCSE revision. However the quizzes have nothing at all to do with any GCSE syllabus, so I reckon that they’re worth a go:
The first one is about collective nouns. I thought I knew quite a bit about them but I could only manage a score of THREE out of nine here:
https:/ /www.bb c.co.uk /bitesi ze/arti cles/zm 2bhbk
The next one is about British motorways. As I’m the sort of boring old nerd who can bore people rigid at parties (if anyone is ever silly enough to invite me to one, that is) with my knowledge of the country’s roads, I did somewhat better here, achieving a score of SIX out of nine:
https:/ /www.bb c.co.uk /bitesi ze/arti cles/zf xtd6f
Lastly (for this week), here’s a quiz about opening lines from famous novels. I surprised myself by scoring NINE out of 11 with this one:
https:/ /www.bb c.co.uk /bitesi ze/arti cles/zh jh8xs
(The observant among you might notice links to further quizzes on those page but I’m saving them for next week!)
So there’s plenty there for you to go at, I think!

A double zero! That must be some sort of a record, I think! At least you shouldn't get lost on the motorways or in your local library ;-)
Well done with those impressive scores, Karamia! ( A perfect kid this week, I see!). You beat me on the bonus quizzes!
At least you can feel quite good about your performance on the bonus quizzes, Kwillmott ;-)
Cashier is obviously the type of person who reads 'serious' novels. Well done on that 10!
Good evening, Sam. I'm not too bad for an old 'un, thanks. My cancer treatment has been changed this week. That, and a bit of a cold, seems to be leaving me very tired but I still struggle on ;-)
I hope that you're fighting fit!
Well done with that 6/10. The timed quiz is never easy. (I think that I must have just been lucky this week!)

Good evening, Clover. It seems that you're not the only one with 'quite dismal scores' in the first few quizzes ;-)
Well done with that display of your literary knowledge!
(I can't work out how it's Friday already either!)
Hi, Jourdain2. I hope that your OH is well on the way from recovery after the spell in hospital. Well done with that decent enough 6/10, anyway ;-)

Good evening, Haras2.
Well done on some good scores there. (It was really only the Timed Teaser that separated us and I think that I was just lucky with that one!).
I'm pleased to hear that your energy levels have improved. I expect to see you completing the Wales Coast Path walk soon ;-)
[My PSA levels climbed to a level where I could no longer have the women's hormne patches, that I've been using for the past three years. So I start on 12-weekly injections on Monday instead but, to get my PSA back down again, I'm also on a 28-day course of high-strength hormone tablets, with three weeks left to run. It's those tablets that are giving me the tiredness but at least I know that there's an end in sight].
All the best to you and Shady!
