Hello . I thought this a tough one and with one massive query I finished it, in my usual way: find a word or phrase that fits and, if it works for part of the clue, that works for me.
My big query meets that criterion but I really don’t get it. Please help!
The clue is: mural in convent: reworked that less nearer the ceiling. What fits ( in my answers) is The Last Supper. I can see bits.- mural, upper but, for the life of me , I don’t get the rest.
Please help!

Oh Dear Lord! That was the period when I rarely came to the site.
I should like to add a note to your wonderful tribute.
I didn’t know her personally but she was very helpful to me when I was at an early stage of my crossword days. She was never patronising but always supportive. There was a period when I was very low ( nothing to do with crosswords and the like. She somehow picked up how miserable I felt and , though she didn’t know me, gave
me lots of help and advice. I desperately needed it but didn’t know how to ask . She was so , so helpful! I’m not sure she knew just how much she helped me through those dark days.
May she rest in peace! I shall certainly remember her in my prayers!
