Can anyone help with last few questions? All answers contain a place name.

1. Siliceous preparation for cleaning knives. = B.B.

2. Recognised neither church nor state government = P.B.

3. Received the V.C. for no particular act = L.C.

4. First yacht to win the America's cup = C

Last question odd as I thought it was an American yacht called the 'Magic'.

Happy New Year to one and all!

3. Leonard Cheshire (got VC for Bomber Command work during the whole 2nd World War, and later founded the Cheshire Homes)
4. The only boat with a 1-word name beginning with C to win the America's cup was Cambria in 1870. She is labelled a "schooner", as was the original America of 1851, so I'm not sure about the "first yacht" part of the question.

Thank you Salty!

Finally got the Siliceous Preparation

The "first yacht" part of 4 looks to be that the first race, won by America was not called The Americas Cup - the subsequent races were named after the first winner, the next being Cambria. Looks like yacht is a generic term.

Not sure about the link between Cambria and a place name, though, although there is a place of that name in the U.S.

Best of luck with the church quiz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
