Debate should be allowed, within the bounds of the Site Rules, and this is not what is happening.

Only the ED can edit a post and I would think that even if only an offending comment were removed, it would not stop the poster querying or arguing the rights and wrongs of the comments removal.
As the ED is not normally about at the weekends or in the evenings, it would not be possible to edit an allegedly offending comment during that period.

As is often the case I have no idea what this is all about but would just say it is Bank Holiday so presume it will be Tuesday before the Ed climbs out of his pit and returns to the coal face? By which time we will no doubt have lost even more members who can't abide this playground nonsense.
