Many thanks Brainiac
I managed to get etiolated but I thought it was a very feeble clue!! My dictionary/ies didn't seem to like feeble for etiolated (mainly went for pale).
If thats right whats 15a - I had torture , not entirely happy with it, its got trots but no soldiers
<PRE>torment!</PRE>
Thanks - it all falls into place now!
I eventually got 'torment' after thinking 'torture' but I think there might have been a mistake in the clue - it should have been soldiers not soldier?
