When You Know A Face But Can't Place It
18 Answers
I was in court on Tuesday.
During my hearing I kept looking at the chairman of the bench.
I knew him from somewhere but couldn't place him.
Having my case reported in the local rag, it gave his name.
Looked it up and everything clicked.
I was more used to seeing him in a dog collar than a suit, tie and shirt.
He was a vicar of a local church and delivered food to the foodbank fortnightly.
Had many a conversations with him and his wife.
but hadnt seen him in two years.
He obviously didnt recognise me either. (Ive since grown my hair and a beard)
If he had recognised me, he would have had to step down from the bench.
Weird how you can know someone and then just 2 years later not recognise them...

I expect his first thought was who is this little mad person.
I used to have total strangers come up to me when I lived near Barking, insisting they knew me and getting quite shifty if I repeated that I didn't know them. One woman showed me a photo of "myself" with her and a couple of friends. We could have been identical twins. Would have liked to have met her in person
long greek word.
What is prosopagnosia? Prosopagnosia (also known as face blindness or facial agnosia) is a neurological disorder characterized by the inability to recognize faces. The term comes from the Greek words for “face” and “lack of knowledge.”
when it is everone then it is a disease. Everyone gets faces they cant place. gets worse with age
I cant remember names ( nominal dysphasia) very very common.
Glad you got a CD
Got arrested for DUI 2004 ( convicted) and then saw him on a drugs run ( as under cover) 2013 - it is very difficult not to shout - "you will never make a drugs arrest looking like that officer".
which of course is a crime in itself. no no no
and he was left with a 'I know that man' look on his face
of course my only desire was to get him safely back to traffic police

I'm reminded of the conductor, Sir Thomas Beecham, who once met a lady he knew, but could not remember who she was. He asked her whether she was well.
"Oh, very well, but my brother has been rather ill lately", she said.
"Ah, yes, your brother. I'm sorry to hear that. And, er, what is your brother doing at the moment?"
"Well... he's still King", replied Princess Mary.
