Good morning, after sailing through a very smooth Spectator, this one takes me through some choppy waters. Some help would be appreciated for the following. Thanks in advance!

(Answers to five clues consisting of wordplay only are thematically connected to their entries. The wordplay part of every other clue includes an additional letter which must be removed prior to solving ( always leaving real words ). In clue order, these letters provide a refrain ( with one variant spelling ) of the reporters of this ACTION-PACKED sequence of events, who must also be completed ( sharing a single letter ). Numbers in brackets relate to entries. Chambers Dictionary ( 2016 ) is recommended. )

10a Journalist ends rioting in street ( 11) : ?I?????????
14a Gain attention anew ( 4 ) : ?O??
23a Charioteer has died in Scottish river ( 7 ) : ?L??I??
37a The RAF developed hot wing for domestic duty ( 11 ) : ???R???????

6d Examination of fluid by Powis in exchange ( 6 ) : ????S?
8d Harsh record for the chopping block ( 7 ) : ??P?I??
11d Sea duty abandoned ( 11 ) : ?A?S????E
25d Disgorges East Lothian brants obscuring sun ( 7 ) : ??E???

10a - thematic (the wordplay gives the answer but it doesn't mach the letters in grid - even so, your 'i' should be L).
14a 'Gain' is the def - the usual 'attention' (listening) + [a]NEW abbrev.
23a is another thematic - for the answer, HUR is the charioteer.
37 anag THE RA[f] + H + APRON
6d BY PO[w]IS anag - def 'examination' (medical) 'w' extra.
8d your letters sshould be ??C?L??
11d thematic - a straight anag of SEA DUTY(should give you the connection).
Scots word for 'rants' [b extra] around S.
Sorry, don't know where 'apron' came from - should be ...PENNY.
...and sorry about 25d it's, E + Scots word for BRA[n]TS with S(un) inside - extra 'n'.

Thanks, ProfessorMaisie! I’ve got three of them but am still flummoxed by the others. It’s probably the heat here. Please give me answers to 10a, 23a, 8d, 11d, 25d, and let me see if I can progress from there.
10a is thematic - it parses to WEDNESDAY - but the input is electrician
23a is thematic - it parses as Thursday - but the input is GLAZIER
11d is thematic - it parses to Tuesday -but the input is CARPENTER

Google Tuesday carpenter, Wednesday electrician and Thursday Glazier and all will be revealed!

Good morning, I’ve got the refrain and the last two answers of the five thematically connected clues to their entries. I’ve also picked up some other answers that I’m not too sure about, but some more help to the following outstanding clues should help to complete the grid successfully. Thanks in advance for your help!
16a Set lord on poet’s paths ( 6 ) : T?OD?S
36a Alpha with high voice ordered raki ( 6 ) : ?????R
18d Quiet gem, this arkite ( 4 ) : S?EM
22d Scottish kindling Mormon set up in open space ( 7 ) ?ANC?N?
29d Swimmer lifting unfortunately rotund head in pool ( 5 ) S??PA
32d Asian rhino bad with high tension ( 4 ) : W?HT
You need 8 answers !!!! Dare I say, it may not be for you :0)
16 anagram set lords - minus the L
36 anagram alt + raki - minus the K
18 arkite = on Noah's Ark, abbreviation for quiet, + gem minus G
32 Currency from where I live - your W is wrong
29 the surplus letter is T in rotund which then becomes "round". A 4 letter word for unfortunately, round/reversed head of p(ool) = swimmer!
22 the second M of Mormon is surlus - o that becomes "moron" - Scottish word for kindling = a 3 letter word for moron reversed inside

NB your A is wrong. A bren is a gun, not a gan!
I think your C is also wrong, but I have lost my copy!
Yes, the C is wrong.

Thanks, JJ109! The final hurdle, I hope!

31a Substantive describing new check once ( 4 ) : ?NEB ( SNEB )
( At first, I parsed to arrive at ANEW . )
33a Edinburgh’s to lay the blame on that formerly immersed in woe ( 4 ) ??TE
( Looking for obscure Scottish word…)
34d Statist denial of old arising on top of okimono ( 4 ) ?AN?

And thanks for providing the letters for the top left corner and the bottom right corner!
34 Statist = slang for someone from the USA = definition

The O of "okinomo" is the surplus letter, therefore promoting the K to be the top of "kimono"

The first 3 letters are an old way of saying "no" reversed
33 I have been unable to parse completely but think it is wyte (Scottish to lay theblame on)

The O in "woe" is surplus - so "we" surrounds the 2 letters for that formerly. I hoe yt means that

I have all those letters crossing and locating in the grid the "reporters of the event" gives the W
31 I agree with Sneb
JJ109, did you enjoy this puzzle? I felt it was good to have a nice easy start to Sunday, but the theme didn't interest me at all.

For 33, check Yt in Chambers, and it's inside 'we'.
JJ109, sorry, I should have said that your hope for 'yt' was correct!
Thanks NAC, but I can't check in Chambers as I don't have one! This is why I have to "hope" that my parsing is OK!
