He was a legend, best chat show host ever. Today's lot are all a bunch of narcissists. He made the guests the centre not the host. RIP
Question Author
I loved his shows on a Saturday night and as you say, he allowed his guests to talk
RIP. What a legend.
I liked Wogan too, same sort of approach but Parky was the master.
R.I.P Sir Michael

When you compare Sir Michael with those of today, he was indeed the Master of his craft
Not even in the same ball park - he was the absolute maestro. Rip Sir Michael.
Well Parkinson actually did proper chat. There were few others who did what he did: not even the great Sir Terry.
I’ll never forget his show with Richard Harris
He was the best.
RIP. Michael.

He was a no nonsense Yorkshireman ,he interviewed so many stars when the word ‘star’ meant just that
Sad news. What an interesting life meeting all those people that he interviewed.
R.I.P. Michael.
Sad news but at 88 he'd had a good life. RIP. I hope he doesn't meet that bird up there!

Emu ? I’d have grabbed the bliddy thing and threw it in the bin, he was none too pleased was he?
Bobbi 10.25 yes he were indeed. I agree with the Wogan post as well he listened and no need to badger their guests. Being professional and making them feel comfortable
Emu lol. Poor Rod Hull would’ve being suffering from a broken wrist for sure ;-)
He always seemed like a lovely man and a great chat show host. I always enjoyed his interviews with Billy Connolly in particular, although I don't remember a bad show. He was a true professional.
Question Author
Another that comes to mind is the interview with Robert Mitchum, so drunk all his answers were ‘Yup’ :0))
Sad news .... he was one of my favourites ..... he had the great gift of being able to handle any "awkward"interviewees.
One of my favourite interviews he did was with 'Sir Les Patterson' which is available on YouTube - Hilarious.

Parky never tried to upstage or patronise, he always seemed to be thoroughly enjoying what he was doing, R.I.P. End of a TV era.
