I was right.

Anyone else having to type a coupkle of blank spaces before a link can be inserted??

I just tried to put a link in for patripassian for you, bobbinwales, but couldn't do it!

All seems a bit more straightforward than recent crosswords you posted Matakari which were all beyond me....so you should get through most of this if there all like these clues...

Matakari, now that you have a big batch of useful answers, you should be able to make a start on entering some in the grid.   I'm not being unhelpful, just trying to encourage you to engage with the puzzle!

I expect you've seen the earlier thread with useful stuff on placement?

Many thanks, all! I have the answers to all of the 8, 9 10, 12, 13-letter clues except

7 No longer support Orient after involvement of European chaps ( 8 )

Answers to the 7-letter clues should help me to resolve the enigma of the 13-letter clue and what appears to be an anomaly in the construction of the grid. Thanks in advance!

2 As primarily encapsulated by a Chinese? ( 7 )

12 Part of fruit apple-grower returned, interrupting distribution of pear ( 7 )  APRICOT?

14 Disorder can start to affect accordion ( 7 )  FLUTINA?

16 Inheritor- the guy is receiving most of remainder ( 7 )  RESIDUE?

22 Brief time on lake has special quality under nocturnal illumination ( 7 )  MOONLIT?

29 Junior journalist covering cricket club with show of hesitation to sink under pressure ( 7 ) SUCCUMB?

7 Easement

2 Asianic

12 Exocarp

14 correct!

16 Heiress

22 Correct!

29 Correct!

Matakari- remember the clues are in alphabetical order so how can heiress be "Residue" when it has to start with a letter between Flutina and Moonlit!

Similarly how can 12 be apricot?

Use the information that you are given wisely

Matakari, what is it about alphabetical answers that's thrown you(again)? We're keen to help, but.. .
