If the part of the story is true whereby a BBC vehicle was used to take her from school to meet Brand, they would seem to be guilty of facilitating the liaison.

Are we to assume that the heirarchy at the BEEB knew that the girl was being picked up? Perhaps Brand gave the chauffeur a backhander.

That implies that the BBC doesn't know how their drivers are spending their time. I suggest they know exactly what they are doing.

"their drivers". Presumably the BBC uses a fleet of their own vehicles, does it? I'd assumed they were under- contract taxi firms.

I dont think a 16 year old really qualifies as a NONCE case.  Wrong IMHO but not NONCE.

As for the cars, I doubt the BBC knows what all are for, does any company?

YMB, I agree.  I doubt they keep checks on their presenters' friends and acquaintainces either.

Doesn't that make them even more culpable?

Why ZM?

Most companies operate on a trust basis, it is simply not feasible to do it any other way.

Look, I'd like to bash the BBC but on this no, unless they carried on knowing it then I cant see there is a problem for them.

he worked for the bbc was my point

How many people have worked for the BBC?

Well, YMB, it generally works like this:

prosecuting barrister: "so, Mr BBC, you not only gave Mr Brand the use of a car to facilitate this....arrangement, you didn't actually know what the car was being used for"

Culpability on two counts. I'm not expecting you to understand, so if it's a bit beyond your reasoning powers (as many things seem to be) probably best not to reply, eh.
