CATatonic self-interest ?

Agree - authors do deliberately choose words and phrases to achieve specific effects. I do, I'm a writer.  It's called the art/craft of writing creatively.

That said - I have a feeling that this is homework and that you should be the one doing it.  I've done all this sort of thing - and so has anyone else who is likely to reply.

That's how you will learn, by doing it yourself.  All the best. 🙂

Have you read the story? Look through it and highlight any bits

I agree, you will learn far more by trying it yourself - good luck.

the Grimm Brothers, in theory anyway, weren't strictly "authors"; they gathered up old folk tales. So when you're weighing up words you may have to consider the original (probably oral) material they used, as well as words that might have been used by translators putting the Grimm stories into English.

Why bother to sign up for a course if you are too lazy to do the required work yourself?
