It's Walpurgisnacht, so it must be time for those witches to dance to 'Schüttel deinen Speck' yet again! 🧙

Looks fun! I've learned something today 😁

Shouldn't they have danced to the song 'Let's jump the Broomstick'??

Beltane tomorrow then?

Blessings between the two fires tomorrow,

Thanks for the posts.

Edinburgh can be fun at this tome of the year, Jno!

O god I just as well tell you: I  am not gonna  live long.

St Walpoooorga has a cathedral at Oudenaarde ( yup where the battle comes from - marlborough etc)

She was born in Crediton Devon ( yup) 750 or thereabouts, and said to her two sibs - " I know ! lets go and convert theHuns!" and they said - " yes lets!"

Willibalt and Winnibert. There is a primary school near me in Manchester called Willibald, god knows why

Willibald ends up and dies in Eichstatt

My late Daydee, who was a POW for five years was at Eichstatt and noted that the local saint was born in Crediton when he visited the church on a 'parole walk'. He started off his foreign service at Oudenaarde ( captured at Schorisse 1940) but could not have known of St Walpurga as he never noted the irony of starting off at St Walpurga and endin up at WIllibalt.

and god knows he had enough time to reflect on it

Obviously Muggles, no idea how to fly brrosticks.

*broomsticks

spent quite a lot of time here

surprisingly they mention the prisoners were decanted to Torun - Thorn ( God knows why it has an English name, it is only about 6000 people) - birthplace of Copernic

Thanks for an interesting story, Peter!

Walpurgisnacht - 'a night purging Walmart' sounds it may be fun but then it's probably a criminal act.

Hopefully we will get a re-run of the Wicker Man on TV.Aye,the Scottish version, not the USA one.Always worth a watch.

And what about UK Mayday tradition:

I feel a bit sorry for Winnibert - not only does she get this funny gender-fluid name, she has to live with a saint in the family, which must be a strain.
