Missing Printer Driver

I have used Epson ET-2600 series printer for some years now and always upgraded the software when requested.  Recently I found I was unable to print wirelessly and on inspection I found that the Epson driver had gone missing. I've tried dowloading a fresh driver to no effect. Impossible to make contact with Epson.  Any suggestions?

Go to 'Printers & Scanners'.

Assuming that your printer is still shown there, remove it.

Restart your computer.

Run the downloaded driver set-up file, which should be this one: https://download.epson-europe.com/pub/download/6275/epson627578eu.exe

Try printing.

Thanks Buenchico, you never let me down.  I've dowloaded the driver but it still says 'driver unavailable'. I can print from my PC through the USB cable but not from my portable laptop. Hmmm what next?

I lost the use of a perfectly good Epson printer some years ago when I upgraded Windows - Epson didn't provide drivers for the printer for the new version of Windows. Can the same thing have happened to you? This is the very reason I'm always loath to update Windows.

Yeah, I once had to sling a perfectly good flatbed scanner for the same reason.

Sorry, you seem to have already tried what I'd have suggested.

I guess it's time to give up and invest in a more up to date printer. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions.

 . . . and/or:

At times, it's possible to download a file that's no longer available on a website. Using the Wayback Machine browser add-on, I obtained a discontinued software program from 2007.
The Wayback Machine is a digital library of websites saved over time. https://web.archive.org

Additional possible remedies:
System Restore - If restore points are saved on your Windows system, you may be able to revert to a point when wireless printing was working.
A different laptop - Try printing from a friend's laptop. If it works, perhaps your investment should be in a new(er) laptop.

If your PC is permanently connected to your printer you could send the files from your laptop to your PC to print.  Saves money.
