Well, she'll "Always have Paris."

A couple of months ago Hunt was saying that Government finances were healthy and tax cuts would be coming soon.

Then Sunak went six months too early and there wasn't time to initiate uncosted cut taxes.

Yes we all knew that Hunt's propsed cuts were unaffordable but we did not know just how dire the public finances were.

It is believed she will disclose a £20Billion shortfall. I honestly thought it would be more. It is not in her interest to suppress that information, of course she will expose it to show just how economically irresponsible the Tories really were.

I have to admit, as others on here will be aware, that I voted Labour and was pleased with the election result, but I was wondering when this "unknown shortfall" would raise it's head. It always does.

After the Labour election victory in 1966, there was a sketch on TW3, or a similar programme, where John Bird (I think it was him) was playing Harold Wilson and saying how bad the countrys' finance were; how they didn't know about this in advance; it was shock and was something they hadn't planned for.

So it's no surprise to me, except it took 3 weeks for it to surface. Hey ho! 😄

well our problems don't amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world.

After the Labour election victory in 1966, there was a sketch on TW3, or a similar programme,

Good memory - last  TW3 was Dec 1963 - that might have been That was the Year that  was.... (its gone so let it go)

Crossman - Crazy Dick  - had said, " oh, we would never allow that!" I remember aged 10 being amazed that the Labour govt wd censor the  Beeb ( all  done by smoke and mirrors)

1964 was the election with a Labour majority 2 and a landslide in 1966

After TW3 Bird did not  "so much a program...." - which my dear Papa thought obviously muzzled - But hey a man has to live, and Bird may have been less happy satirizing a socialist govt

casablanca - "gambling Rick _ I am shocked"

casablanca is also discussed here
