Just watched 633 squadron, again, not my favourite but certainly up there as a classic. What's you favourite British WW2 film?

Hmm do you mean set in Britain or British made?

I was going to say 12 O'Clock High but checked and that is US made as is 633 Squadron.

Looked at a list of British made war films and Ice Cold in Alex is a top favourite of mine as is A Town Like Alice (Virginia McKenna version) but neither is set in Britain.

I had a long conversation with a very elderly Dutchman who recalled watching British paratroopers over Arnhem.  He said 'We cried'.  He was still, all those years later, visibly upset.

I saw "went the day well" quite recently, that was a classic I didn't even know existed until it featured in an Al Murray program.

yes vulcan only watched that the other week. The remake was "operation Mincemeat" saw that recently too. Ian Fleming was invovled in thinking up that caper.
